The KFC Scholars Program was created in 2006 and is dedicated to assisting students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at a public institution within their legal state of residence. This could mean up to $5,000 per year for tuition, fees, books, and room and board. The application is available on their website from December 1, 2009 to February 10, 2010.

The Kelly Foundation of Washington is offering $2,500 awards for its scholarship program, the Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship. This award is named in honor of Ewing C. Kelly, a longtime radio and television broadcaster. The Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship is designed to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship while striving to attain their academic goals. Applicants will be judged on their academic merit, extra-curricular achievements--both scholastically and in their community--and financial need. Applications are in the Career Center. National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship Program                                                                           www.MSwashington.org

The O'Donnell Family MS Scholarship is open to anyone with multiple sclerosis or is the child of someone with multiple sclerosis, who will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time. Applicants must be from the state of Washington. Awards range from $1,500 - $3,000 per year; students may have the opportunity to renew their awards for up to four years, as long as they continue to meet requirements. The application can be found at the link given above. It is due January 15.

Elks' Vocational Grant Award

First place winner will receive $1,500. This award is available to any graduating high school senior and is planning to pursue an eligible Vocational/Technical Course. For more information, please find Ms. Gilmore in the Career Center.

If you are a member of the class of 2010 or above, scored a 4 on the math or science section of the high school WASL or above the 95th percentile on the math section of the SAT or ACT, have a family income at or below 125 percent of the state median family income, agree to earn a bachelor's degree in a qualified math or science program at an eligible Washington college or university, and agree to work full-time in a math or science occupation in Washington for at least three years after college graduation, you are eligible to apply for four years of FREE college tuition. Applications will be available by October 15 and due by January 8.

The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution. The scholarship award of $1,000 will be sent to the winner(s) within 2 weeks of the deadline. All applications are due by June 19.

The Eastside Audubon Society is offering a $500 college scholarship to a deserving high school senior. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) is pleased to announce its second annual "Freedom in Academia" student essay contest. High school seniors from across the U.S. are invited to write an in-depth essay explaining why free speech and First Amendment rights are crucial to higher education and how abuses of these rights harm the college experience. The first place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship and will receive an all-expense-paid invitation to the 2010 Campus Freedom Network Conference in Philadelphia. Two second place winners will receive a $2,500 scholarship and five runner-ups will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. All winners will receive exposure through the FIRE website. Each year the Princeton Prize in Race Relations, a program sponsored by Princeton University, seeks to honor students in grades 9-12 who are doing outstanding work in their schools or communities to advance the cause of race relations.

Sullivan Leaders are selected on basis of demonstrated service, leadership, and academic achievement to receive full tuition, room, and meals for each of four years of undergraduate study at Seattle University. Nine Sullivan Leadership Awards are given each year; 36 finalists receive other Seattle University scholarships ranging from $11,000 to $18,500 per year. The Sullivan Leadership Application, along with a complete admissions application, must be completed and postmarked on or before November 15, 2009. Candidates for the award are required to attend the Sullivan Leadership Day competition on January 16, 2010. Forty-five finalists will be invited back for the final competition on February 26, 2010.

Each year, through our National Scholarship Competition program alone, FIDM awards over $150,000 in scholarships. There are also other scholarship programs available to students upon inquiry. Through this competition, six students who demonstrate an exceptional talent and interest in Fashion Design, Visual Communications, Interior Design, Digital Media, Fashion Merchandising, or graphic Design will each win a one-year scholarship to attend FIDM. Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

Western Washington high school students are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship. Your Better Business Bureau is now accepting applications. BBB Foundation offers three Students of Integrity Scholarships in conjunction with the Business of the Year Torch Awards. The scholarships are designed to support students who recognize the importance of ethical and responsible marketplace practices. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a student of the 2010 or 2011 graduating class who will be attending college after graduation, actively reside and attend high school in Alaska, Oregon, or Western Washington, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The Nordstrom Scholarship will be awarded to five students in the Washington/Alaska region. Each $10,000 scholarship will be paid over four years in equal installments of $2,500. Scholarships are for attendance at a four-year college or university. All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the educational institutions by Nordstrom. To be eligible, you must be a high school junior that has maintained an unweighted GPA of 2.7 and require financial assistance to attend college. The Careers That Work! scholarship program offers tuition assistance for high school graduates pursuing education at select private career colleges in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Each high school in the Northwest is given three $1000 tuition scholarships to award to students wishing to attend one of these colleges and you, or the high school, identifies which students will be awarded the scholarship. National Council of Jewish Women Scholarship

The Seattle Section of the national Council of Jewish Women offers partial tuition scholarships for Jewish students. Scholarships may be used for undergraduate study at any accredited Washington State public or private college, university, technical/vocational school, or retraining program. Students must be Washington State residents and may apply for the scholarship on an annual basis. Scholarships will be granted by a committee, after review of the student's application, tax returns, essay, and personal interview. For more information, please go to the Career Center. All applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2009. 

Fraternity Scholarships

Available to incoming freshman to the University of Washington, Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity is offering scholarships. There is no need to join or even contact this fraternity to be eligible for this scholarship. The Delta Upsilon Fraternity is also giving out four scholarships. There will be one each in the amount of $1,000, $750, $500, and $250. These scholarships will be awarded based on personal merit as well as academic qualification. As with the other fraternity, it is not required to join the Delta Upsilon Fraternity to be eligible for this scholarship.

Society of American Military Engineers Scholarship                                                                                       www.same.org/seattle 

For the Scholarship Program, up to $7,500 in college scholarships (usually awarded in amounts of $1,500) will be awarded to graduating high school seniors attending an accredited college or university in the fall of 2009. The student must be accepted in a full time program of study towards a bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related fields. Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU) is pleased to offer financial assistance to students pursuing higher education. WSECU will award twenty $2,000 scholarships to students attending a four-year or graduate school in the fall of 2009. WSECU will grant seven $1,000 scholarships to students seeking a two-year or vocational degree or certificate. Scholarship applications will be available January 2, 2009, and are due March 2, 2009. Youth Scholarship for Children of Law Enforcement and Fire Service Personnel                                     www.washingtonbfaa.org

The Washington Burglar and Fire Alarm Association is pleased to announce scholarship awards to children of active duty fire and police personnel. WBFAA, comprised of 100 members, is the state trade association for licensed professional companies who specialize in a wide spectrum of services to commercial and residential consumer. Together, they will be awarding a total of $24,500 in State and National awards. Applications are due by March 31, 2009.

Body by milk is offering a scholarship through their the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Award Program. The SAMMY scholarship rewards exceptional high school senior student athletes by helping to offset some of the costs associated with college tuition. The unique scholarship educates teens on the importance of making smart choices - like drinking lowfat milk, eating right, and being active to stay fit. 25 winners will receive a $7,500 college scholarship, an invitation for winners, parents and/or guardians to attend a SAMMY weekend at the Disney World Complex in Orlando, FL., and an opportunity to star in a Milk Mustache ad in USA TODAY. The SAMMY Awards reward student athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, community service, leadership, and include milk as part of their healthy lifestyles. Woodinville Garden Club Scholarship

Two scholarships of $1000 will be awarded to seniors. The applicants will be judged on high school and college transcripts, the application, including the reflection statement, and the letter of recommendation. All applications must be postmarked by April 16, 2009. Applications are available in the Career Center. For more information, please see Ms. Gilmore.

Art Scholarships

These scholarships are primarily based on talent and love of the arts. It provides full tuition for the 2009-2010 school year. The application deadline is May 1, 2009. For more information, please go to www.mcmillenfoundation.org.

The Carman Scholarship

Open to seniors who live in Washington State and are graduating in a class that has less than 400 students in it, your school may submit one application only. If there are more than 400 students graduating in your senior class, your school may nominate two candidates. Awards range from $500 to $2,000 a year, and scholarships are renewable for up to four years of college. Academic record, test scores, school and community activity, and activity need are all given careful consideration by the Carman Scholarship Committee. Music and Art majors are not eligble. For the 2009-2010 academic year USA Funds will award $1,500 scholarships to students with economic need. Full-time and half-time undergraduates, as well as full-time graduate and professional students, are eligible for the awards. Up to 50 percent of the scholarships will be targeted to students who, in addition to demonstrating financial need, are members of an ethnic minority group or are physically disabled. Deadline: February 16, 2009.

Students with solid grades and have been involved in volunteer community service or work experience are what we are looking for. There will be 1,000 scholarships of $1,500. All students between the grades of 9-12 and live in the U.S. & Puerto Rico are eligible to apply. All applications are due by  February 15, 2009.

The Washington State Trial lawyers Association (WSTLA) is proud to be working with high schools across the state to foster increased awareness and understanding of the important role of the civil justice system in our society. An important WSTLA President's Scholarships are awarded to high achievers who are committed to helping those in need, and who have been victims of injury or have overcome a disability or handicap. The WSTLA American Justice Essay Scholarships echo WSTLA's commitment to fostering awareness and understanding of the important role of the civil justice system in our society. Deadline: March 20, 2009.

Each year the National FFA Organization awards approximately $2 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals, and higher education plans. The selection process takes into account the whole student -- FFA involvement, work experience, SAE, community service, leadership skills, and academics. Cedarcrest's FFA Chapter Number is WA0122.

The Washington State PTA is awarding financial grants to graduates of Washington State public high schools beginning their freshmen year of post-secondary education. Grants are awarded on the basis of 1) financial need, 2) academic performance, and 3) leadership/community service. $2,000 grants will be awarded to recipients entering four-year post-secondary institutions and $1,000 grants will awarded to recipients entering community college, vocational-technical schools or other accrdited institutions. Applications must be postmarked by February 10, 2009.

Specifically for high school seniors intending to pursue a career in education. $4,000 scholarships will be awarded to one Western Washington Student, one Eastern Washington Student, and one Minority Student. Each scholarship is a $1,000 per year for four years based on "student in good standing" status and the continuing pursuit of a career in education. All applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on March 13, 2009.

R.H. Thomson Memorial Scholarship

The R.H. Thomson Memorial Scholarship Program is established to recognize, encourage, and assist promising students who have expressed interest in pursuing a career in the field of Civil Engineering. To be eligible, you must be a high school senior within the nine-county geographical area allotted to the Seattle Section or be a student at a community college within the state of Washington. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, and be Washington resident students with close social and cultural ties to an American Indian tribe. Applicants must also be enrolled at an in-state public or independent college or university as a full-time student by fall term 2009. All applications must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2009.

Girls Going Places is Guardian Life Insurance Company's annual initiative designed to reward enterprising and community-minded girls ages 12 to 18. Guardian grants cash prizes to girls who demonstrate budding entrepreneurship; taking the first steps toward financial independence; and making a difference in their schools and communities. The McKelvey Foundation began the Entrepreneurial Scholarship program in 2004. Our vision is to build a large network of youth business owners from across the country and connecet them with each other for the purpose of sharing their experiences in running their own businesses. To qualify, you must graduate high school in the Spring of 2009, attend a 4 year college within the 50 states, own and operate a genuine business (non-profits are eligible), have at least one paid employee, and complete the online application by January 25, 2009. Our scholarship offers up to $10,000 per academic year for 4 years to any U.S. college. We do not select scholars based on academic achievement or financial need. Awards are based solely on demonstration of entrepreneurial spirit.

High school seniors are eligible to apply for $3 million in college scholarship: 250 awards are presented annually with 50 scholarships for $20,000 and 200 scholarships for $10,000. These achievement-based awards, created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Coca-Cola, are sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Bottlers across the country who are recognized for their long-lasting commitment to the education of tomorrow's leaders. The Presidential Scholarships are Montana State University's most prestigious scholarship awards, recognizing academic distinction as well as unique personal qualities. Up to twenty such Scholarships will be awarded to freshmen entering Montana State University in August 2009.Recipients receive full tuition waivers and generous stipends. Scholars who maintain the required academic standards will have their awards renewed for four years. Presidential Scholars also receive admission to the University Honors Program and are required to enroll in two semesters of Honors "Texts and Critics" courses. Applicants must apply for admission to Montana State University as entering freshmen and have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and a composite score of 30 on the ACT or 2000 on the SAT are the norms. Must be postmarked by January 9, 2009.

The Horatio Alger Association annually awards more than $12 million in college scholarships and grants, making it one of the nation's largest scholarship providers. In keeping with the educational mission of the Horatio Alger Association, the scholarship programs provide financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.
