The Cedarcrest High School Social Studies Department follows a strict NO LATE WORK policy
for all homework, assignments, and/or other projects. Students who
miss work due to an excused and/or prearranged absence will be allowed
to turn in work upon their return to school and will be provided
adequate time to complete their missing work. According to the
rules
of Cedarcrest High School, that are clearly stated in the student
handbook, all students have as many days as they are absent to
complete their missing work. For example, any student who is
absent on
Monday and misses an assignment will be allowed one day to complete the
missing work and turn it in at the beginning of class on Wednesday. Similarly, any student
who
is absent on Monday and Tuesday would be allowed two days to complete
any work they missed while absent and have it turned in at the beginning of class on Friday.
The only permanent exception to this rule is in relation to the
Senior Seminar class. In all Senior Seminar classes the Paper,
Product Portfolio, and Presentation are expected to be turned in on the
specified due date and will not be accepted after the students
scheduled class period under any circumstances. Excused absences
for any reason will not excuse them from the due date or provide the student extra time to turn in these
assignments.
This rule does not necessarily apply to assignments that are DUE on the day of an absence. Any assignment that was assigned before the students absence, and is due to be collected in class on the day of the absence, is expected to be turned in immediately upon the students return to school regardless of the number of days absent. Excused absences do not extend the due days for previously assigned assignments and/or projects. It is important to understand that no work will be accepted and no extra time will be provided by the instructor if the missing work is due to an unexcused absence(s). Obviously, some of these rules can be subject to instructor discretion and can be altered by an individual instructor (if they wish) in the event of a serious emergency and/or other special circumstance. It is highly recommended that each student communicate clearly with their instructor about absences and the reasons for them whenever possible. |
