HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Cedarcrest had an exciting win over Lynden Christian in the District 1 Championship.Going into the bottom of the 6th inning the score was tied 0-0. Blake Holtom led off for the Red Wolves with a single and scored later in the inning on a single by Dave Heyting. Wes Pierce had pitched the first 5 innings allowing just 1 hit. Ernie Gerrer was brought in to pitch the 6th and 7th innings. In the top of the 7th Ernie struck the first batter and got the second batter to ground out to Blake Holtom. The next batter was walked and the following batter was hit by a pitch. With 2 out and runners now on 1st and 2nd came the play of the game. The next Lynden Christian batter hit a hard line drive single to right field that should have scored the runner from 2nd base. However, Cedarcrest right fielder, Tim Kwiat, came in hard after the ball and made a perfect throw to get the runner at home for the final out.
  • Cedacrest had another exciting game in the Region 1 Championship--only losing this one. Cedarcrest came so close to another trip to the State Finals--we had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning of a tied game. We did not score that inning, and Rochester went on to score 5 runs with in the top of the eighth.
