  The legends of witches gather two times a year on April 30(eve of May Day and was on the eve of October 31). They say to meet a witch you need to put your clothing on in-side-out and you needed to walk backward on Halloween...AT NIGHT. Earlier settlers, brought there own beliefs about Halloween. Then you see a black cat on Halloween you would have bad luck. They say that black cats are associated with witches because they say that witches can change into cats and cats are the spirits of the dead.

The word "Halloween" actually origins in the Catholic Church. Customs was drought the America in the 1840's by the Irish immigrants. Trick-or-Treat was also brought to America by the Irish Celts. Jack-O-Lantern is from an Irish folk tale in the 18th century. An Irishman Jack, tricked the Devil into climbing apple tree. He then cuts the tree truck with a cross symbol and trapped the Devil in the tree branches. At death, the Devil gave pity on Jack and gave in a peace of coal to light up his path. He then put the peace of coal into a hollowed-out turnip that he had been eating.
