Mr. Michael Walker
Attorney-at-Law
384 East Pine Street
Bellevue, WA  98004

 Dear Mr. Walker

Thank you, Mr. Goodwin, for giving me the opportunity to discuss on the phone last week your needs for an office assistant. I believe my qualifications match your expectations for this position. I should like very much to be a part of a professionally managed office such as yours; therefore, I wish to be considered for the position of office assistant.

I have acquired many office skills which I believe will be useful in this position. I can keyboard at 65 words a minute and can operate most standard office equipment. In addition, I am proficient at operating many technical office software applications such as the Microsoft Office products of Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as several payroll and records management applications. Further, I have taken several writing courses in honors English class, which I feel will be useful in a law office.

As indicated on the enclosed resume, I have spent the past year working as an office assistant for Dr. Maria Alexander, our high school principal. Much of the work required accurate, precise, detailed reporting similar to what will be necessary in your office. I believe that Dr. Alexander feels that I am able to perform this kind of task well, and she has indicated that she would be glad to talk to you about my performance if you wish. This Fall I will be attending Bellevue Community College pursuing a degree preparing me for a position as a paralegal. Working for your firm would give me valuable experience for this future career.

I would very much appreciate the opportunity to interview for this position. I am available to meet in your office any day after 3:00 p.m.

                                                                     Sincerely

                                                                    Ms. Anne Mercer
