Home Page: American History.htm THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION The Revolutionary war started in 1754 because the settlers on America wanted to be their own country not a part of Great Britain. But Britain did not want that to happen so they sent soldiers to America and so started the American revolution. At the time there was no president because America was not a country yet. But George Washington a great leader in the war would soon become president. major people that were in the war include, Paul Revere, George Washington, Ben Franklin, and John Adams. The official end of the war was at the battle of Yorktown in 1774 . with the U.S. as the winning team America was its own country.
