THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

          The American Revolution began in 1775 and ended in 1783. There was no president in American at this time, and soon after the war, in 1789, George Washington became the first president of the United States. Patriots and Loyalists played a major part in the war, since they had different opinions. The Patriots were the colonists that rebelled against the British, while the Loyalists were those who were loyal to the British. Causes of the war included the Quartering Act, the Stamp Act, the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea party and other major social, political and economical conflicts between the North and the South. The Battle of Yorktown led to the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3rd, 1783, which ended the American Revolution.
