THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

This war occurred from 1775 to 1783. The president at the time was George Washington with the help of John Adams as vice president. Some important people involved with the war were Jeffery Amherst whom was the commander-in-chief of the British army. Henry Laurens (1724-1792) was the President of Continental Congress. Abraham Clark was referred to as "poor man's counselor" because he would defend them in court, but instead of accepting money, he would accept food or gifts. The reason that the war even began is the British's laws were poorly enforced, and the colonists were able to fun their political and economic systems with a large degree of autonomy (the US).

Major battles of the war include:

  • Battle of Bennington

  • Battle of Saratoga

  • Battle of Monmouth

  • Battle of King Mountain
