| GO TO HOME WORLD WAR II 1939-1945 is when war took place. The president defending the US territory was Roosevelt. Some important people were (from Germany) Adolf Hitler, a "leader" for Germany who wanted to rid the world of Jews, homosexuals, and people with darker skin. Franz Von Papen was a general staff officer. Important people from America were Franklin D. Roosevelt was the president at the time and made a whole new list of laws that involved the Japanese being confined from things. Harry Hopkins was Roosevelt's personal envoy to Britain. This war was caused by the Germans invasion of Poland (Europe's cause) and Hitler's wanting to create the perfect race. Also, (Asia's cause) was the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Finally (all around) there was world depression at the time and conflict between religion and race. Pearl Harbor was part of the war when General Douglas accept Japanese surrender to Tokyo Bay and the atomic bomb. Major battles of the war include:
