World War II

 

World War II began in 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. For America, World War II began on December 7, 1941, when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The United States, in retaliation, dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6th, 1945. Six days after the bombing, on August 15, Japan announced its surrender.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the president from 1932 to 1945.  Harriet Truman went into office, and took over after Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage on April 12, 1945.

The war included Japan, United States, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Russia, France, and Poland. Some of the battles were, the Battle of the Atlantic, Schamhorst vs. Duke of York, and the Warsaw resistance.
