WORLD WAR II World War II started in 1939 and ended in 1945. The reason why the war was started was because of the Treaty of Versailles in WWI. Some other reasons why WWII started was because Adolf Hitler believed in making a superior 'super' race of Germans. Also he believed that Jews were evil, and gypsies and handicapped people shouldn't have to be taken care of when a good German child could be taken care of. While the war was going on, Germany invaded over 20 countries. At the time of the war Franklin D. Roosevelt was the President. During this war America was at war with both Germany and Japan. But with the power of the allied Nations, they defeated both Japan and Germany ending the war. Major battles of the war include:
