THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION The American Revolution is what gained the United States of America freedom for Great Britain. The revolution started in 1775 and ended in 1783 with the Treaty of Paris. At the time, there was no president. After the war, George Washington took on the role of president for the United States. Involvement in the revolution was Great Britain (Enemy of the U.S.). At the time, Britain was controlling the U.S. and imposed acts such as the Quartering Act, Stamp Act, and Townsend Acts that angered the U.S. Which led to revolts like the Boston Tea Party. Then the U.S. and Britain went to war which ended in the Battle of Yorktown which Britain surrendered. Major Battles of the war include:
