THE CIVIL WAR

The Civil War was the war involving the United States, and only the United States. It lasted from 1861 to 1865. It was involving the North and South parts of the United States. The president at the time was Abraham Lincoln. The dispute between the North and South was slavery. The North didn't want slavery, and the South did. This is what brought them to war. The North was commonly called the Union and was commanded by Ulysses Grant. The South was commonly called the Confederates and was commanded by Robert E. Lee. After many long battles, the one that ended it all was the Battle of Nashville which the Confederates surrendered. Slavery was ended form this point on. The Civil War was the deadliest war in American history consisting of 620,000 casualties.

  • The Battle of Petersburg

  • The Battle of Bull Run

  • The Battle of Gettysburg
