The civil war lasted from 1861-1865, while President Abraham Lincoln was in office. The deep south wanted to succeed from the North in an effort to continue the use slaves. On April 7th General Lee's surrounded and Hungary army was forced to surrender to the North. As a result of the Civil War Slavery was abolished, forever changing the course of American History.
