       World war II started in 1939 and lasted until 1945. There were many countries involved including Germany, Soviet Union, United States, Austria, Great Britain, France, Japan, and Italy. Some of the main people involved however were Franklin D. Roosevelt (American President), Winston Churchill (British Prime Minister) and Adolf Hitler (German Dictator.) There were many causes of the war, some of which being that Adolf Hitler was persecuting six million Jewish people. Also the rise of many countries that allied together in the pursuit of power.  One of the main events that lead to the end of the war was when American General Douglas MacArthur accepted the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945.
