THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

The American Revolution was at a time without presidents. It lasted from 1775-1783. At the end of the war we received out first president, George Washington. This war was mainly against the British and the Americans. The main cause of the war was that America wanted to be independent from Great Britain. You could say that the beginning of the war was actually a different war: The French and Indian War. But it could also be said that The American Revolution was started because of the acts: the Stamp Act, the Tea Act (which resulted in the Boston Tea Party), the Quartering Act, and the Townshend Act; along with the controversy involving taxes. The final event that officially ended the war was the Treaty of Paris.

Major battles of the war include: The Battle of Saratoga, Concord and Lexington, Valley Forge, and the Battle of Bunker Hill.
