WORLD WAR II There is a war that almost everyone knows about. WWII was one of the most horrific wars that has ever occurred on earth. It lasted for a grueling six years from 1939-1945 with Franklin Delano Roosevelt as president to start with but was replaced by Harry S. Truman later. The whole world was involved, as the name of the war depicts, but the main countries that partook in this war were America, Germany, Italy, and Japan. Everyone knows that this war included Hitler committing genocide against the Jews and other peoples that did not fall under what he thought was up to standard. This war was about anger and resentment that built up in Nazi Germany and Hitler's rise to power when he became Chancellor in January of 1933. The war finally ended on August 14, 1945 with the surrender of Japan. Major battles of the war include: The Battle of Mapatan, Pearl Harbor, Battle of Berlin, and the Battle of the Bulge.
