World War II World War II lasted from 1939-1944. Roosevelt was president at the time and one of the major role players in the war was General Patten. The holocaust was the main event that caused the war. Hitler's death and the bombing of Nagasaki ended the war. The Beaches of Normandy, Poland, St. Nazaire, and Stalingrad was where four of the major battles took place.
