The Cross Country Coaching Staff

Head Coach Bruce McDowell is in his 14th year of being the head coach of the Cedarcrest Cross Country program. He has been the coach since the 1994 season. Coach McDowell is also one of the head track & field coaches at CHS.  He has been teaching mathematics at CHS for 15 years.  Coach McDowell ran track & field and cross country at Columbia River H.S. (Vancouver, WA) and at the University of Washington. He has a wife, Kim, and two sons, Patrick,10 years old, and Riley, 7 years old.

Assistant Coach Dean Vergillo is in his 1st year of being the assistant coach of the Cedarcrest Cross Country program. He ran track & field and cross country at Issaquah H.S.  Dean is a stay-at-home dad raising two Riverview daughters, Miranda (11 years old at Tolt) and Kate (7 years old at Stillwater), with wife Robyn.  Always training and competing in various events from running, skiing, orienteering to multi-day adventure racing.  You can find Dean on the other side of the starting line as part of the team that produces the Duvall Days Fun Run and the REF Runs for Riverview, Turkey Trot.
