      Course Description  This course explores sampling methods, deductive reasoning, growth models and systems of linear equations, sampling

     probability, logic and proof, similar and congruent triangles, polynomial and rational functions, and coordinate figures in space.

 

      Textbook  Integrated Mathematics 2 , McDougal Littell

 

      Materials        -Pencil, Lined Notebook Paper, Graph Paper

       -A 3-ring notebook is highly recommended for homework, worksheets and handouts.

                              -Graphing calculators will be used throughout the course. Calculators will be provided to students if needed.

 

     Classroom Rules

-Students are expected to treat the instructor, students and equipment with respect

 

                 Consequences:

-If you cause a problem you can solve it on your own without disturbing anyone or I will provide appropriate consequences.

 

     Electronic devices:

-Cell phones are not allowed during class.

-Ipods cannot be used during lecture. Ipods may only be used with instructor permission.

 

Consequences:

1.      Verbal warning

2.      Loss of device until end of class

3.      Loss of device until end of day

4.      Loss until parent picks up device

 

     Food/Drinks:

-No food or non-water drinks are allowed in class.

 

       Attendance

-School attendance policies will be followed. Please become familiar with these policies.

-Arriving in class after the bell rings, without teacher approval, is considered tardy.  If you are more than 10 minutes late to class, it is considered an absence.  If you do not arrive at all in class, you are considered absent.

-Three tardies for a student in a semester will result in one grade level drop (e.g. A to A-)

-A student exceeding 10 absences during a semester will not receive credit for the class.

-Work from excused absences can be made up. A student will have the number of days absent to make up missed work.

It is the student's responsibility to make up missed notes and work.

 

     Semester Grading Scale

     A      =       94%           C   =    74%    

     A-     =       90%           C-  =    70%

     B+    =       87%           D+ =    67%

     B      =       84%           D   =    64%

     B-     =       80%           F    =    63% and  below

     C+    =       77%

        

         Parents of student with a failing grade will be contacted before the end of the grading period.

         Progress reports will be sent home periodically throughout the semester for signature.

 

     Daily Points (5%)

              -Points will be given for attendance, preparedness, daily work and warm ups.

              -Absent students will receive zero points, however excused absences can regain points if worked is made up within 5 days.

 

     Assignments (20%)

                - Assignments will be checked daily for completion

        -Three to four random problems from weekly homework will be turned in for check of work. All steps should be included in the solutions.

               - Project assignments throughout the semester will be assigned points as appropriate.

 

     Quizzes (25%)

        -Quizzes will be given on a regular basis throughout the semester.

                -Quizzes missed due to excused absences can be made up outside of class time by the end of the unit.

 

     Tests (50%)

         -Tests will be given at the end of each unit. A review worksheet will be completed before each test.

         - Missed tests can be made up before or after school.

         -Students receiving a failing grade on a test have the option of a retake within 2 weeks of the original test. This test must be taken before or after school. The maximum possible grade on a retake test is 70%. No retakes will be allowed for the final test of the semester.

                 -Cheating on a test or quiz will result in a score a zero with no possibility of a retake.
